A skyscraper inspired by a Beyonce video breaks ground in Melbourne.
Unless you live under a rock in a country with no Internet and no taste in music, you know exactly who Beyonce is. I debating putting the words ‘pop-star’ in front of her name, but then decided there was no point, because Beyonce’s sphere of influence has reached so far that there will now be a building inspired by the curves of her body.
Designed by Australian architecture firm Elenberg Fraser, the 79-story tower in downtown Melbourne is inspired by the ‘Ghost’ music video from Beyonce’s visual album, and features the contours and curves of her body created with computer-aided parametric modeling.
The design was unveiled in summer 2015, and will cost $315 million to build. The residential building should wrap in 2020 and feature 796 luxury apartments and 187 hotel rooms, as well as restaurant and retail spaces. Interestingly enough, the apartments will be fairly small at 440 square feet each, but that is a small price to pay to live inside Beyonce.
I am ready to sign a lease today.via ]
