A dilapidated cement factory has now become a beautiful home thanks to one enterprising architect.
We talk a lot about nontraditional living situations here at Property Room 360, but rarely do we come across something as drastic and beautiful as this.
La Fabrica is an old cement factory located outside of Barcelona that has been undergoing renovations for 45 years.
Originally purchased by architect Ricardo Bofill in 1973, it has been through many different renovations to make it a habitable living space. His goal was to create a living-working space that flowed seamlessly with the existing architecture and industrial feel of the building. No two rooms in the structure are alike, and Bofill took special care to repurpose certain parts of the building into workable space, such as planting green spaces everywhere, even in the non-working chimneys.
The huge building is still being renovated today, but you can already see Bofill’s vision has come to life, so if you need any inspiration on how to design and renovated your next home, look no further.via ]
