Applications are now being taken for New York micro apartments in Kips Bay.
Four years ago, Bloomberg announced a design competition called “adapt NYC” to design units for a Kips Bay building that would be composed entirely of micro units. While many of Bloomberg’s initiatives have come under fire since the end of his term, the adapt NYC project is now taking applications for 14 of the 55 studios.
Two studio layouts are available, 11 of them are going for $950 per month, and are available to singles that earn between $34,526 and $48,350, or two people that earn between $34,526 and $55,250. Three studios for $1,492/month are being offered to singles earning between $53,109 and $78,650, or two people earning between $53,109 and $89,830.

The studios, designed by Monadnock Development LLC, Actors Fund Housing Development Corporation, and nARCHITECTS won the competition, and assembled their micro-units at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The units themselves range from 260 to 360 square feet, and the building is located on 27th St between 1st and 2nd ave.
