In recent years we have seen more and more architects and developers move towards green initiatives, such as sustainable homes made of recycled bottles, to entire neighborhoods with rooftop gardens.
Shipping container homes are probably my favorite trend in terms of recycled materials in design, because they have almost become their own category of architecture.
Shipping containers are huge, made of dense metal, and sometimes only used once and then dumped into the ocean. I don’t know exactly who invented the idea of repurposing these containers into homes, but ever since then people have been dreaming up all kinds of home designs and concepts utilizing these metal boxes.
